"Cider Corps went from a chaotic to beautiful mess." Josh Duren, Co-Founder of Cider Corps
Jason & Josh Duren
The beginning of Cider Corps can be traced back to Afghanistan where co-owner Jason Duren was deployed with the U.S. Marine Corps. In 2012 he was tragically hit by two separate IEDs, leading to a traumatic head injury that would affect him for the rest of his life. Upon returning to the United States, he reunited with his brother, Josh, who helped him heal and cope with the tragedy he had endured. In order to heal and move forward with his life, doctors recommended he develop a hobby as a therapy. This hobby would soon become cider making when Jason bought Josh his own cider kit in 2013.
Eventually, the hobby came to a crux when the duo wondered how they could make a tragedy and become a sense of help to veterans in their community. The duo went to work, and the rest is history. Listen to their podcast with Visit Mesa to learn how it all unfolded and how they are continuing to make in impact in the community to this day.
Cider Corps
Cider Corps, Arizona’s largest veteran-owned craft cidery, was founded by brothers Josh and Jason Duren with a strong commitment to community and connection. What started as a hobby has blossomed into a thriving business that not only serves great cider but also serves as a gathering space for veterans and civilians alike. Cider Corps brings people together, fostering a supportive environment where veterans can find purpose, share their stories, and feel celebrated. Through their work, Josh and Jason continue to honor the sacrifices of veterans, creating a space where community and service are at the heart of everything they do.
